Worth It

I thought of something that was worth it
I should have made a start,
But I was busy screwing holes
In something that fell apart.

And that was just because
There are things they keep on doing,
I could get some anesthesia
But that’s not worth pursuing.

It’s just a blindfold really
I’ll still need to keep on running,
And I’ll miss all of the fun
If I don’t see it coming.

I don’t know it anyway
I still get my kicks,
It’s canned hope going down the road
Something I need to fix.

There was something that occurred to me
I found someone to blame,
But then I have to hate someone
And I love someone’s name.

The door came off the hinges
There’s too much inside,
Volumes of the things undone
Someone wants to hide.

Someone isn’t worth it
Someone has to lie,
When everything is broken
Someone has to try.

My first book, Myshi Moo and the Frightening Face, is out on 25th July 2024. It’s unlike anything else you’ve ever read. You can pre-order your copy here.
