The only thing that’s working
Isn’t even real,
It’s just a game I’m winning
It’s just a useless skill.
What a joke it seems to be
I can’t muster any laughter,
The practise always goes so well
The truth is a disaster .
I can’t seem to catch a break
I can’t even catch a cold,
A picture of vitality
Who feels like growing old.
I feel like moving up in life
I feel like getting on,
I’m sick with simulated joy
When real life’s going wrong.
But wouldn’t it be funny
If I could flick a switch,
How easy everything would be
If I was someone rich.
I’d be someone who believed
Good things would come to me,
The way it was before I slipped
That’s where I’d like to be.
