Democracy sucks. It’s a great idea in theory, but in practice, it’s currently a cesspit. It shouldn’t be though, and it wouldn’t be if it was done in the proper way. What’s the proper way though?

Let’s explore that question in this article. I’ll use the country I know the most about, Britain (now sans the ‘Great’) to illustrate some of the ideas I’ll bring up. I’ll try to be as brief and to the point as I can. I’m aware that the picture I’m using in this article is about America. The things I’m talking about apply on both sides of the pond. They apply in all democracies.

First question; what is the proper way to do a democracy? A democracy has to be run by the people, through competent leaders they elect. Based on a benign view of human nature, people should choose leaders that have the interests of the country as a whole as their major guiding principle. So done properly, a democracy will do the greatest good for the most people, raising living standards, educational opportunities, health standards, and contentment for the greatest number of civilians in the fairest way, spreading the cost of doing so as equally as possible. Doesn’t that sound completely wonderful?

Anybody who thinks Britain is anywhere close to doing democracy as described above must be living on another planet! If you’re not in Britain, how do you…
