The World Outside

I’m not sure I want to
Listen to your excuses,
Take the slack I’m giving you
Put them all in nooses.

I’m not here to entertain
Where were you when the curtain fell?
If you’d paid attention
There’d be no need to tell.

It’s not going to be the same
We know what used to be unknown,
We’re fools to want to be naive
Eyes closed together and alone.

I just want us to be still
Then we’ll hear the song,
And realize it’s the world outside
Realize we did nothing wrong.
