The Train

She asks me if this train
Is going to her destination,
My lack of urgency
Might cause her some frustration.

But time does not run out
The map starts making sense,
I tell her she’s okay
End of the suspense.

I’m only here because
I thought it worth a try,
To ask if we could meet
Surprised by your reply.

We cannot claim to know
Whether this is fated,
Only time is free
Autonomous and unrelated.

We mind mindless slices
Measures we can choose,
Never sure how much is left
Concerned by what we lose.

The train will leave regardless
Freedom made in steel,
And all of us within
Are spinning on a wheel.

All of our navigation
All of a heartfelt plan,
Only emphasises
The mortality of man.
