The shade they cast

Seeing things differently

The clouds that interrupt the sky
Add colour to my view
The shade they cast upon the streets
Cools me down and gets me through.

The wind that howls between the houses
And aggravates the trees
It makes some curse and hunker down
But it’s a song for me.

The rain that beats against the glass
And makes other people shiver
Tells me all that stands will fall
Consumed by nascent rivers.

The lines that creep across my face
Prove that I have lived
They record what I have gained
And I have more to give.
