The Panda

Only the Panda
Retains decorum
As all else lose their head,

Screams and shrieks
Drown out my thoughts
The panda sits stoically upon my bed.

The tap keeps running
Someone’s lying
Unconscious in the bath,

If the water keeps rising
The bather will drown
Me and the panda laugh.

Words like hail
Lash my skull
I want to shut my ears,

If I speak
Over the din
I know the panda will hear.

My thoughts transmit
Like radio
When I wake in the morning,

It’s the way
I greet the panda
And the panda sends me warnings.

Sometimes the panda
Sings a song
He knows it helps me sleep,

The song is on
A secret wavelength
And the lyrics are very deep.

When you sleep
I am awake
There’s so much to do,

If you knew
You’d be afraid
Of me and the panda too.
