The Music

I went again today
To the auditorium,
Where the songs they used to play
Were only about you.
There was no song today
But I still felt the same,
The players are all silent
I still hear the music.
How many lives will pass
How many voices fade,
Before I can forget
How it felt to love you.
The places that I used to go
Accompanied by friends,
They’re all dead or gone
The houses are all empty.
I might not go back
The band could never play again,
There is no resurrection
But one thing never changes.
You can be the music
And the memories,
You can be the joy
The songs are all about you.
