They all took to their beds
Ignorant of the night
Her shadowy blues
And dancing greys
That sing beside the shifting road.

They could not understand
The whispers in the darkness
What we can become
Protected
From the glare of day.

We discard our guises
The whip of custom
Just a carcass
Their shuttered eyes are blind
To her coruscating lips.

The color of waves beneath a moon
This sea conceals her secret
And as they dream
I tread her water
Her breath relieves my tired lungs.

I sink into the dark abyss
A watery emancipation
Smiling at the recollection
Of the years I spent
Searching for this shore.

They dream of worlds
So wanting
Besides the majesty of night
Whilst they are slumbering we dance
In the land beyond the light.
