A poem for the falsely accused

You have no choice you say
But to act accordingly
There’s evidence against it
Which you’re sure you’ve never seen

Neither are you party
To all the failings of your source
Love is blind and so is mine
Yours has no flaws of course

As for all the others
Who disregard your view
You suggest they’d never tell me
The truth they tell to you

Once I would have listened
Convinced you knew it all
You were the father figure
Taking pity on the fool

I beheld with trembling awe
Your wisdom and your wealth
Now I’m amazed you know me better
Than I know myself

Thank you for your insight
The things I never knew
Why I did and what I thought
It’s all so clear to you

So who am I to question
Who am I to know
Shake your head in disbelief
You’ll reap the hate you sow
