Snow in April

One day it will snow in April
And everyone will have enough,
The sun will rise at 4pm
And things wont be so tough.

We’ll go out in the darkness
On that snowy summer day,
And laugh until we’re cured
Then at 4pm we’ll say;

“Why is it snowing in April?
The seasons make no sense,
And neither does the way we live
With all of the pretence.”

Just because the calendar
Tells us it’s summertime,
It doesn’t mean that everything
Will be comfortable and fine.

Just because it’s always been
More or less correct,
Don’t be alarmed when nothing goes
As one might expect.

Today it snowed in April
And I nearly lost my mind,
They all wore shorts and sunglasses
They’d left their coats behind.

I thought they must be crazy
But they all did the same
They stared at me in winter garb
As though I was insane.
