No Undiscovered Friends

Infrequent guests keep visiting
I don’t have patience anymore,
Where I used to wait
The tide returns too soon to shore.

Sunlight lodges in my room
I lay with darkness in this bed,
Now I lie with emptiness
Love and darkness both have fled.

There are no passages untold
No undiscovered friends,
The next horizon is revealed
Before I get to turn the bend.

I want to search for something
Answers nothing else can give,
Allowed to wander and be lost
Free to learn allowed to live.
