Keeping all your gifts
Doesn’t make you any less absent,
Our episode is nothing then
Just a box of useless trinkets.

Your cards are aging monuments
Vandalised in parting,
You etched something and fooled yourself
It would make a difference.

The songs that we both loved
Our soundtrack, we called it,
Mean something antithetical
Now it’s only me.

Keeping all the hurt
Doesn’t make you any less dead,
But it comforts me
My necrotic blanket.
