I’d Give It All Up
Mar 11, 2024
Alcohol
It soothes my soul,
Let me forget
But not regret.
I recall
I hold on tight,
But I lose it
Every night.
The mornings however
Are a different matter,
Each time the allure
Of forgetting it shatters.
It’s when I arise
Not vertical,
And say I was wrong
And regret it all.
And I swear I will change
I swear I’ll be clean
As I speak I am wondering
Where I had been.
Where did I go wrong
Because once it was good,
Because I’d give it all up
If there was some way I could.
