I Am the Ink

The sun didn’t shine that summer
At night I stood upstairs,
Not sure if my world
Is all as it appears.

The seasons that preceded this
Erased by this azure,
Immovable with icy breath
It seems to reassure.

Some notion I can’t quite define
The faces you forget,
Softly suggesting memories
And names that still upset.

They are present if I am
If I recall their name,
I am the ink that makes their mark
Fading just the same.

Outside in the purple night
I thought I saw the park,
Ablaze and countless fleeing death
Then I noticed it was dark.

The street below was empty
And I began to shiver,
For all the promise and the past
That I did not deliver.

My first book, Myshi Moo and The Frightening Face, is out on 25th July 2024. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever read. You can pre-order your copy here.
