Fat Loss Diary — Day 6
I’m back up to 75kg.
I’ve been dieting for five days and I’m back to square one.
It doesn’t bother me one bit.
I know what I ate, and I’m not surprised that I’m back to the start. I’ve learned that I can lose a couple of kilograms in a couple of days.
Today is Sunday. By next Sunday, I’ll be 70kg.
How did I go from 75kg to 72kg and back up to 75kg in just five days? The days I stuck to three meal replacement shakes (200 calories per drink), were the days that I lost became lighter. No surprise there. I actually only stuck to the diet on the first day and then changed it to one meal replacement drink and one meal each day. It was going well until I had a barbecue on Wednesday night. I gained back two kilos. Last night I went to a restaurant with my sister and my two daughters, I ate a huge amount of food. I’m back up to 75kg.
The lesson here is that I must be consistent. If I had remained consistent for five days, a day of feasting would have set me back, but I’d still have ended up lighter than I started the week. I had two days of feasting and ended up exactly where I started.
I could ameliorate and justify things. I could point out that I had three workouts last week, and demonstrated strength increases on most exercises, so I may have gained some muscle. But there’s no point. The salient point is that I have not reduced my overall bodyweight.
My trousers are loser than they were six days ago. And they will continue to get looser still. To lose fat, I have to stay hungry. And every day I do that, it becomes a little easier. I am learning to ignore hunger. I am no longer eating just to pass time and stave off boredom. I’m actually becoming faster at my and getting more done as well.
So this is where I stand. I know where I’m going. I know what I need to do to get there.
70kg, here I come.
