Everybody Sees It

It’s never about anything

Except what you decide,

Everybody else is pushed

Or steps off to the side.

And everybody sees it

They all know the song,

Everybody knows you’re right

And everybody’s wrong.

The band picks up your number

Feet tapping the floor,

I wonder why we’ve stayed so long

Following your score.

You don’t even see it

You think it’s what we want,

You think you just saved the day

Your instrument is blunt.

Once we all submit

You think it’s our idea,

It wouldn’t really matter

If we all disappeared.

Except you’d be abandoned

No one for you to tame,

Just you and all these empty seats

No one for you to blame.
