Another Way

I think I just gave up
You don’t know and I don’t say,
But I just felt it go
Soon my actions will betray.

I thought I’d make it work
But I’ve run out of trust,
I thought I’d found a rock
Then it turned to dust.

It’s all that they can give
Much less than I must take,
I can’t stay here anymore
All for nothing’s sake.

I think I have to go
I have to find another way,
Or I’ll have nothing left
And nowhere left to stay.

This path is too well trodden
They stay because it’s steady,
It’s nothing more than that
I see the end already.

I don’t see how they do it
Sliding all the time,
I need to find a rock
Just to keep what’s mine.
