Getting out
Getting fed
Getting cuddled
Put to bed.

Getting changed
Getting walking
Getting heard
Getting talking.

Getting bigger
Playing games
Making up
My list of names.

Being safe
Breaking free
Wondering what
I want to be.

Being liked
Getting grades
Getting noticed
Getting laid.

Trying to keep
My outlook sunny
Working…

Conscience has a vacancy
A window with a view unseen,
A mattress with no body
A sleep without a dream.

Is that the empty room
My wondering has been seeking,
The shelter that will let these words
Become somebody speaking?

Is there a song that hides
A melody in shrouds,
Afraid that distant nothing
Will say she sings too loud?

Across the street unknown
It could be half a world away,
Is there another wanderer
Who seeks the things I say?
